The Jubilee Hummingbirds were from Memphis. They released many singles from several labels (Designer, Messenger, Sound of Memphis, Crusade) and at least three albums (two on Messenger and one on Gospel Express). The group hosted a local television show, "Songs of Praise." James Carr and O.V. Wright were each briefly members of the group.

I've recently decided to incorporate as much biographical information as I can track down about the groups whose records I post, and I'm going back through former posts as time permits to add as much information as possible. Names and biographies of group members, other groups that they played in, dates of releases, home cities of groups, information about labels - really anything is useful. The men and women who gave glory with this great music deserve to be remembered better.
